Anne Hathaway's Casting Was Criticized

Randy Quaid called Anne Hathaway a 'leftist and woke.'
"You need the original girl. It’s not personal; it’s filmmaking," Quaid wrote. "Anne isn’t s---, because and if you haven’t noticed, she’s pregnant."
In 1990's Days of Thunder, Quaid played the owner of a racing team that recruited Cruise's character Cole Trickle. While Kidman, 59, played Dr. Claire Lewicki, Cruise's romantic lead in the film. Though the sequel's plot remains under wraps, Entertainment Tonight reported that Hathaway, 43, will join as a team owner and engineer. Days of Thunder 2 is set to hit theaters the summer of 2028.
In a follow-up post shared an hour later, Quaid called the Princess Diaries star a "leftist and "woke," adding, "[A] horrible choice for DAYS OF THUNDER NASCAR audience who are MAGA."
Randy Quaid Requested Nicole Kidman's Return

Nicole Kidman played Tom Cruise's love interest in the original 'Days of Thunder.'
"The s--- older chick for Tom in this film needs to be Nicole," Quaid continued. That’s the casting that would sell the idea. It’s interesting because when we made the first one there was also a rush to get it out; editors slept in the cutting room on shifts. This is a weird thing, like they want it to come out and tank."
Quaid continued to push for the exes to work together for Days of Thunder 2, writing in another post, "If I were in control of production, a real sequel worth watching for DAYS OF THUNDER would be seeing Tom and Nicole together on screen again. We don’t need a new girl; we need a new race car!"
