Dennis Rodman is headed to another Hall of Fame, but this time, it’s not for basketball.
The five-time NBA champion has been announced as part of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026, cementing a legacy that blurred the line between sports and spectacle in the late ’90s. Known as much for his off-court antics as his rebounding dominance, Rodman carved out a second act in professional wrestling that remains one of the most unforgettable celebrity crossovers in the industry.
From NBA Superstar to 'Rodzilla'

He drew headlines after teaming with Hulk Hogan in a major WCW tag match.
Rodman’s wrestling story began at the height of his basketball fame, when he aligned with the New World Order (nWo) in WCW in 1997, adopting the nickname “Rodzilla.”
He quickly became a headline magnet, teaming up with Hulk Hogan in a blockbuster tag-team match against Lex Luger and The Giant at WCW Bash at the Beach. The crossover appeal was undeniable: a reigning NBA star stepping into one of wrestling’s hottest storylines.
But Rodman didn’t just make cameo appearances, he leaned fully into the chaos.
The Infamous NBA Finals Stunt

Dennis Rodman shocked the Chicago Bulls by appearing on live wrestling TV during the Finals.
Perhaps the most legendary moment of Rodman’s wrestling run came during the 1998 NBA Finals.
After the Chicago Bulls’ Game 3 win over the Utah Jazz, Rodman skipped a team practice to appear on WCW Monday Nitro in Detroit, where he and Hogan attacked Diamond Dallas Page. The move stunned both leagues and led to a $20,000 fine from the Bulls.
The appearance doubled as promotion for an even bigger crossover: a tag-team match pairing Rodman and Hogan against Karl Malone — his on-court rival — and DDP at Bash at the Beach 1998.
It was sports entertainment at its most surreal, merging two of the biggest cultural forces of the era.

A Wrestling Run That Kept Escalating

He continued to build his wrestling record through high-profile matches.
Rodman continued to build his wrestling résumé with a high-profile match against “Macho Man” Randy Savage at WCW Road Wild in 1999.
Though his appearances were sporadic, they left a lasting imprint. He even returned to the ring decades later, making an appearance in All Elite Wrestling in 2023.
Notably, despite his induction, Rodman has never actually wrestled in WWE itself — making his Hall of Fame honor a recognition of his broader impact on the industry rather than time spent in the company’s ring.
A Hall of Fame Fit for a Cultural Wild Card

His wrestling run will be honored ahead of the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
Rodman joins a 2026 WWE Hall of Fame class that includes Stephanie McMahon, AJ Styles, and Demolition. He also joins a long line of celebrity inductees, from Mike Tyson to Arnold Schwarzenegger, and even President Donald Trump.
The ceremony is set for April 17 in Las Vegas as part of WrestleMania 42 week.
For Rodman, it’s another chapter in a career defined by unpredictability. Whether grabbing rebounds or grabbing headlines, he built a legacy on doing the unexpected.
