“Driver’s License” singer Olivia Rodrigo might have a new hit on her hands called “Parking Ticket.”
The singer snapped a pic of her parking violation to her Instagram Story on Sunday April 11, captioning it “damn this driving sh*t isn’t all fun and games.”
The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star rose to fame with her hit “Driver’s License” that was released on January 8, which is now the 10th song in history to debut No. 1 on the Hot 100. The 18-year-old is also the youngest and first female solo act to obtain this title. She also holds the highest biweekly streaming debut at 107 million worldwide streams, EW reported.
“The success of ‘Driver’s License’ has been a huge lesson in how you just need to, when you put a song out, you just need to let it go. And it’s everyone else’s song to interpret, it’s not your song anymore,” she revealed to Just Jared.
Contributing to its popularity, rumors swirled as to who the hit song was about. The actress was caught up in an alleged love triangle with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-stars Joshua Bassett and Sabrina Carpenter.
"I completely understand why people are curious about the specifics of the song but, to me, who and what the song is about is not important. People are resonating with the song because it’s so honest, raw, and emotional," the teenager told Vogue.
But that didn’t stop Rodrigo from basking in all of the attention she was receiving from her hit. The singer got a shoutout on her 18th birthday from Saturday Night Live when they used her song for one of their sketches. The singer wrote “it was the best birthday present ever.”
"DRIVERS LICENSE SNL SKETCH IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER IM SHAKING," Rodrigo tweeted at the time.
In regards to making music, the singer has said, "I just feel so lucky."
"It's been incredible," she said about her song’s success. "I love writing music and I just feel so lucky that people are responding to it the way that they are. It's really my biggest dream come true."
Rodrigo has no plans to stop and has already released another single with an accompanying music video, titled “Deja-Vu.”
On Instagram, the singer thanked fans and her team for their support. "The deja vu video is one of my fav things i’ve ever done. so grateful for @allieavital who directed it with such brilliance and kindness. so lucky to have @taliaryder in it as well," she wrote.
