Emma Roberts & Garrett Hedlund's Romance 'Is Rocky, To Say The Least', Says Source: 'Becoming Parents Has Really Tested Their Relationship'
Emma Roberts has been stepping out solo a lot recently, which has friends worried that she’s hit another rough patch with Garrett Hedlund.
The Scream Queens alum, 30, and the Tron: Legacy actor, 37, were over the moon when they welcomed their first child, son Rhodes, last December, “but it seems becoming parents has really tested their relationship,” spills a source.
In November 2020, the American Horror Story star revealed she initially opted to stay tight-lipped about being pregnant after learning she had undiagnosed endometriosis. "I kept it to myself, my family, and my partner, not wanting to make grand plans if it wasn’t going to work out," she told Cosmopolitian at the time. "This pregnancy made me realize that the only plan you can have is that there is no plan."
Roberts, who hooked up with Hedlund shortly after her 2019 split from ex-fiancé Evan Peters, raised eyebrows when she attended Paris Hilton’s wedding on November 11 without her baby daddy in tow, after also partying solo at a celeb-packed Halloween bash in Hollywood. (The pair were last publicly photographed together at an Oscar party in late April.)
“When people ask why Garrett isn’t there, she says she enjoys time out with her friends and needs a break from home life,” dishes the source.
Robert’s doing her best to put on a happy face, but “her relationship with Garrett is rocky, to say the least,” the source adds. “They’re committed to being good parents, so everyone hopes they’ll be able to get back on the same page.”
Earlier this year, Roberts opened up about being a first-time mama. "It's not something you'll always feel like you're getting right, but you will get better every day," she said, when asked about the advice she wished she received before welcoming her son, per People. "When in doubt, just love your child and yourself."
