Double blessing! Ewan McGregor and girlfriend Mary Elizabeth Winstead are completely over the moon after secretly welcoming their first child together, who sources say has helped heal a painful family rift.
OK! previously shared late last month that Winstead was never so much as photographed with a baby bump during her entire pregnancy. How sneaky!
After McGregor, 50, hooked up with his Fargo costar and called it quits on his 22-year marriage to production designer Eve Mavrakis in 2018, their eldest daughter, Clara, publicly blasted Winstead as a homewrecker.
But it was Clara, 25, who announced the couple's happy news on Instagram on June 27, sharing snaps of herself cradling her new brother, Laurie, who she gushingly called “the greatest gift.” Her post also included "Welcome to the world little brother ❤️ congratulations to my Dad & Mary."
McGregor and Winstead, 36, “kept the pregnancy under wraps at first, but when Clara and her sisters [Jamyan, 20, Esther, 19, and Anouk, 10] found out about it, that really changed things, and little by little the ill will subsided,” an insider tells OK!
The Halston star “didn’t try to force the kids into accepting Mary and let them come around in their own time,” the insider adds.
“Now Clara and her sisters are constantly visiting, because they love spending time with Laurie and want to get to know Mary better. This baby was the missing link everyone needed for the bonding to happen!”
McGregor initiated his divorce from Mavrakis in January 2018, around when he began seeing Winstead, but the paperwork wasn't finalized until 2020.
Baby Laurie barely made his way into the world and he is already helping the family come together. He is truly the perfect addition!
