During his appearance on The Morning Show on Friday, The Dark Knight Rises star claimed that the new 007 had already been chosen and that the public will find out the news soon.
"It’s been rumored that [Lowden's] on the shortlist," he said.

Gary Oldman backed up Jack Lowden for the next James Bond.
"We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him," he said before clarifying, "They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet."
Lowden has unarguably been making headlines as the frontrunner to play the next Bond, with reports claiming that the blockbuster franchise's producers were "strongly considering" the star.
Meanwhile, the responsibility of finding the best talent to play the peerless spy falls upon casting director Nina Gold and filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
Richard Osman Also Teased Who Could Be the Next Bond

Jack Lowden made headlines as the frontrunner to play the next Bond.
Presenter Richard Osman also teased Lowden as the ultimate choice for Bond.
Speaking to his co-host Marina Hyde on the latest episode of his "The Rest Is Entertainment" podcast, he said, "Someone told me for definite who the new Bond is the other day, but I mean that's happened before. The name I've heard is Jack Lowden."
He added, "It is definitely not a 'he's definitely got it' thing. He is definitely being strongly considered. I think he'd be amazing."

Richard Osman teased Jack Lowden as the ultimate choice for Bond.
Hyde echoed his sentiment, pointing out that at 36, Lowden is "a good age. You have to have the longevity. They've got to do at least two movies, and he's a good age for it."
Osman further praised the actor, saying that Lowden has "real Daniel Craig energy" and calling him "such a brilliant actor. Can be funny, can definitely do action. I mean, I think he'd be sensational."
Lowden, meanwhile, is next set to star as the lead character Mr Darcy in Netflix's highly anticipated Pride and Prejudice adaptation, which will drop on the streamer later this year.
Jack Lowden's Wife Also Backed Him For James Bond

Saoirse Ronan also previously backed husband Jack Lowden for the Bond role.
Saoirse Ronan, Lowden's wife, also previously backed her husband for the James Bond part.
While co-hosting a 2024 BBC Radio 2 show with Scottish DJ Edith Bowman, Bowman said that she believed Lowden would be a great choice to embody the fan-favorite spy next, adding that she had been making a similar argument for years.
When Ronan said, "I’m going to start counting how many times you plug him for Bond on the radio," Bowman candidly responded that she has been doing so for six years.
In turn, Ronan replied, "Hasn’t happened yet though," before adding, "There’s time, there’s time."
