A neighbor in the South Carolina apartment complex where Hayden Panettiere died has spoken out about the chaos that ensued in the community after her death.
The 36-year-old was found at a loft apartment in Greenville, S.C., after an acquaintance called 911 reporting an "unresponsive female" on the afternoon of Sunday, August 16.

Hayden Panettiere was found dead in South Carolina on August 16.
"I was shocked, as I’m sure everyone in Greenville was, to find out she was here," the anonymous neighbor told Page Six. "I don’t know that she was there long, and I’m not sure she even ever left the apartment.”
According to Greenville Online, the loft was part of a renovated old mill facility called the Judson Mill Lofts, just two miles from the city's downtown area.
“I can only speak for myself, but you know, I never saw her [and] I haven’t spoken to anyone else that said they have,” the neighbor added.
Police reports stated that there were "no signs of foul play" as they investigate her death. Dispatch audio of the first-responder response made mention of "cardiac arrest" and a suspected "overdose." The Heroes star had struggled with her mental health and addiction for years.
"The apartment complex has sent out a couple of messages saying it wasn’t anything criminal and that there’s no reason for anyone to be scared or anything like that," the person continued.
'It's Still Kind of Jarring'

"It’s still kind of jarring to hear that someone of her stature was here and then that tragically happened to her," the neighbor noted.
