How Benjamin H. Whitley has helped usher in a new era for the long-established firm.
Over the past several years, the legal field has become oversaturated with new voices. This can make the experience of choosing a legal professional anxiety-inducing for clients in need, as sorting through numerous options can be both time-consuming and frustrating. Fortunately, time-tested, consistently reliable legacy options still exist, such as Whitley Law Firm, which Benjamin H. Whitley is now helping shepherd into a new era of legal success.
Benjamin has always operated with the mantra that he refuses to allow Whitley Law Firm to become a business where clients only hear from a paralegal or an intake coordinator.
He describes, “Every client gets my direct phone number, and calls route straight to my desk. They can schedule as many appointments as they need. That's not a marketing line; it's because I work for them, not the other way around.”
The Inspiration Behind the Legacy
Whitley Law Firm has long been a family business, and today, Benjamin is looking to strike the right balance between honoring the past and boldly building toward the future. He grew up watching his father, Bob Whitley, build a respected personal injury practice, and even apprenticed under him after finishing his J.D. at Mississippi College School of Law.
Benjamin went on to study political science at UNC Chapel Hill and, for a while, didn’t think he'd follow his father into the family business. He considered becoming an airline pilot, got his pilot's license, and even earned a commercial rating as a young man. But law, and specifically the chance to help people who'd been badly hurt through no fault of their own, wound up changing Benjamin’s perspective and pulled him into a leadership position at Whitley Law Firm.
The Marriage of Passion and Profession
Uniquely, Benjamin can now blend his passions for both legal work and flight to create something larger than the sum of their parts. When the firm encounters clients it can't meet in person, Benjamin takes the team by plane to the clients.
He says, “We've flown out to see people in rural parts of North Carolina, sometimes 300 miles from Raleigh, because they were too injured or too far away to make the trip themselves. Sitting across from someone in their own living room, rather than a conference room, changes the whole conversation. They trust you differently when you've made that kind of effort.”
What Benjamin ultimately realized through his work at Whitley Law Firm is that his two passions aren't as separate as they seem. He’s found that flying and trial law both reward the same instincts: careful planning, real risk management, and staying calm when the stakes are high. Becoming a partner at Whitley Law Firm allowed him to combine both. He still flies; now it's "Wings of Justice" instead of a commercial cockpit.

Awards, Acclaim, and Exposure
Beyond his legal work with the firm, Benjamin is also the co-host of a CBS-17 show,Attorneys on Call. What began as a way to answer everyday legal questions on air has since become one of the best trust-building tools at his team’s disposal.
Additionally, he has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America every year from 2016 through 2026, a Super Lawyer from 2019 through 2025, a Top 40 Under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers, and has received the inaugural Compassionate Counsel Award from The Milestone Foundation.
A Brighter Future
Moving forward, Benjamin H. Whitley wants Whitley Law Firm to keep being the kind of firm where growth never comes at the expense of access. As the team takes on bigger and more complicated cases, Benjamin’s goal is to protect what got us here: clients getting direct lines, not a call center.
