Juror in Lindsay Clancy Trial 'Burst Into Tears' During Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague's Closing Argument as She Recounted Harrowing Details of Children's Deaths

A juror became visibly emotional during Lindsay Clancy’s trial as prosecutor Jennifer Sprague delivered her closing arguments.

Per New York Post, a female juror, who was sitting in the first seat of the jury, wearing glasses, “burst into tears” as Sprague recounted the harrowing details of the children's deaths.

She could be seen wiping her eyes and nose repeatedly as the prosecutor detailed how the children’s mother strangled them in cold blood.

Per the outlet, the jury of nine women and three men became emotionally invested when Sprague began delivering her closing argument.

Several of the jury members reportedly leaned forward and listened with rapt attention when Sprague described how Dawson, one of Clancy’s children, sported popped blood vessels on his face after she took his life.

Other members reportedly remained still as they listened to details about the children's final moments. Sprague also argued that Clancy knew exactly what she was doing at the time and showed no mercy toward her kids.

The outlet also reported that many jurors kept glancing at Clancy to see how she was reacting when listening to the horrors she allegedly inflicted on her own children.

The room held the tension long after Sprague returned to the prosecution table. In fact, many jury members reportedly readjusted and shifted in their seats before the judge started providing instructions.

The jury was reportedly sent to begin deliberations shortly after 12:30 P.M. The court was adjourned after four hours, and the jury is due back Friday at 9 A.M. for further proceedings.

Clancy's lawyer, Kevin Reddington, said during his closing argument, “You know, from looking at the objective evidence in this case, this young lady did nothing wrong in her life,” per New York Post.

“She was a nurse, a daughter, a wife, and a darn good mother,” he said.

The former labor and delivery nurse killed her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan, at her Duxbury, Mass., home on January 24, 2023.

She reportedly used elastic exercise bands to strangle her children, after which she slit her own wrists and neck and jumped out of her second-floor window in an attempt to take her own life.

The 36-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the charges, citing that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time. She also claimed that she heard a man’s voice in her head telling her to commit the crimes and then kill herself.

The jury seemed stoic while listening to the defense attorney's arguments as to why the mother of three shouldn't face life imprisonment.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor argued that “Lindsay Clancy hears a voice one time and does it?”

“She doesn’t try to lock herself in the bathroom. She doesn’t try to leave, leaving children alone for 20, 30 minutes, not the greatest option, but it’s better than killing them,” she continued.

“She left them discarded on the basement floor like broken toys because she was done playing the game,” she stated before adding, “You know to a moral certainly she is guilty.”
