Kelly Clarkson's had a rough year, but she's looking forward to letting loose with a girls' getaway — even if it has to wait until her 40th birthday in April.
The singer, who split from ex-manager hubby Brandon Blackstock in June 2020, won primary custody of kids River Rose, 7, and Remington, 5, and was recently awarded sole ownership of their $10 million Montana Ranch.
"She feels like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders and really wants to celebrate big time," shares a friend, adding that The Voice coach is eager to round up her closest gal pals for an adults-only tropical escape.
"She's thinking Fiji or Hawaii, unlimited mai tais and paddleboard lessons with a handsome instructor," the friend dishes. "Kelly is thrilled that this nightmare with Brandon is finally winding down — and she can't wait to cut loose."
The American Idol winner is clearly needing some time away from the toxicity of her relationship with her ex. An insider recently spilled to OK! although Blackstock is "urging Kelly to put aside their differences and celebrate the holidays together with their kids," the talk show host is still bitter over how their divorce played out. "She has zero desire to be on civil terms with him and isn’t ready to play nice."

Between the lawsuits and child support drama, “it’s no surprise Kelly still isn’t over their nasty divorce battle,” the source dished, adding the 39-year-old only communicates with the talent manager through their lawyers and nannies.
“Just the thought of a family get-together with fake smiles and small talk makes Kelly sick,”the insider explained. “She doesn’t want to spend a single second with him if she can help it, Christmas or not.”
Clarkson and the 44-year-old talent agent split after nearly seven years of marriage in June 2020. The former flames divorce was finalized in September.
