Virgil Abloh is continuing to be honored after he passed away last month.
Friends and family attended a private memorial service on Monday, December 6, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Abloh's hometown of Chicago. Kanye West — who recently changed his name to Ye — Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Tyler, the Creator, Drake, Kid Cudi, Frank Ocean and A$AP Rocky were reportedly in attendance.
Tyler, the Creator spoke at the service and broke down in tears during his eulogy, TMZ reported. Lauryn Hill is also said to have performed at the event.
According to Metro, Ye placed his hand on Abloh's sister's shoulder during her eulogy. The outlet noted that Rihanna was spotted resting her head on her boyfriend A$AP Rocky’s shoulder.
As previously reported by OK!, the Off-White founder passed away on Sunday, November 28, at the age of 41 after his private battle with cancer. Days later, the rapper and his estranged wife attended the designer's posthumous Louis Vuitton show with their daughter North in Miami. The Spring-Summer 2022 Louis Vuitton menswear presentation was reportedly named "Virgil was here" in honor of the artist.
"For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture," Abloh's family said in a statement in November.
"Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered," the statement continued. "Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design."
