Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert Reacts After Son Tyler, 21, Is Arrested on Child Sexual Exploitation Charges: 'Praying for Everyone Affected'

Lauren Boebert is standing by her son Tyler after he was arrested on charges of child sexual exploitation in Colorado.

The Republican representative, 39, released a statement on Monday, August 10, after the 21-year-old was apprehended.

“I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time,” she told TMZ.

According to court records obtained by People, Tyler was arrested in Garfield County, Col., on August 9, on charges of child sexual exploitation of a child to induce or entice, sexual exploitation of a child, possession with intent, sexual exploitation of a child involving video and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The date of the offense is listed as January 1, 2024. Tyler was released on bond and is scheduled to be back in court on August 19.

Tyler is also due to be sentenced in Weld County on September 4 in connection with a separate 2025 child abuse case after he pleaded guilty to one count of negligence without injury and getting a second count dismissed.

His legal troubles will continue, as the father of one has a separate sentencing scheduled for September 10 in Garfield County. This hearing is related to a February 2024 arrest that occurred after a slew of vehicle trespassing incidents and property thefts.

Tyler is the oldest child of Lauren, who also shares sons, Brody, 19, Kaydon, 17, and Roman, 13, with ex-husband Jayson Boebert.

The Colorado congresswoman became a grandmother in April 2023 when a then-17-year-old Tyler welcomed a son named Josiah with his partner.

Lauren announced the happy news in March 2023 during the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland where she received the “Mothers of Influence” award.

“I’m going to tell you all for the first time in a public setting that, not only am I a mother of four boys, but, come April, I will be a Gigi to a brand new grandson,” she said.

Lauren pointed out that she made her own mother a grandmother at the age of 36 and suggested the idea was “hereditary."

In September 2020, the politician looked back on giving birth to Tyler when she was 18 and was still in high school. “I was a brand-new mom, and I had to make hard decisions on successfully raising my child, or getting to high school biology class. And I chose to take care of my child,” she told The Durango Herald.

“I was starting my family and had different priorities," Lauren added.
