It 'Had To Happen': Liam Payne Is 'Disappointed' In Himself Following Split From Fiancée Maya Henry
Going solo… again! Former One Direction boybander Liam Payne announced that he split from fiancée Maya Henry less than a year after the duo got engaged.
Payne recently stopped by Steven Bartlett’s “The Diary Of a CEO” podcast, and when asked about the rumors swirling that he and Henry were no longer together, he confirmed that he was “indeed” single.
“I feel like more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people,” he continued, reflecting on his failed relationship. “That annoys me. I’ve just not been very good at relationships.”
Payne — who shares 4-year-old son Bear with ex Cheryl Cole — added that he has a “pattern” of self-destruction when it comes to dating.
“I’m just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else,” the 27-year-old hunk added. “I feel like that’s where I got to in my last relationship. I just wasn’t giving a very good version of me anymore, that I didn’t appreciate and I didn’t like being.”

Payne noted that although he feels “better” being out of the relationship, it didn’t feel good to end things, but it “had to happen.”
Henry has yet to comment on their split, but Payne shared that the breakup was “best for both of us.”
The “For You” crooner and the supermodel sparked romance rumors in September 2019 after they were spotted getting cozy at London’s Heathrow Airport. The duo got engaged in August 2020.
In September, he confirmed the big news during an appearance on Good Morning America. “We’re just really happy,” the X-Factor alum said at the time. "The last week, I've just had a birthday, my son has gone to school for the first time today, so it seems like a lot of firsts for me really, actually, which is great."
