Lil Nas X Rips Pants During 'MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)' Performance On 'SNL' — Adam Lambert, More React

The show must go on! Lil Nas X gave a stellar performance of "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)" on Saturday Night Live, despite ripping his pants.

The SNL performance was the first time the 22-year-old has performed the track live and stole the SNL season finale.

He donned a pair of leather pants and did not shy away from getting up close and personal with shirtless dancers and had one of them lick him. However, his face lit up in surprise when his pants ripped when he moved to dance on a pole, but Lil Nas X managed to cover the tear and finish the song like a pro.

"NOT MY PANTS RIPPED ON LIVE ON TV. OMFG NO," he tweeted minutes after the show stopper.

"I know i do a lot of planned s**t but ripping my pants on live television is not one of them," he clarified. Although he finished the performance, he noted that the ripped pants stopped him from doing the full "pole routine" as planned.

Lil Nas X, who was born Montero Lamar Hill, laughed off the incident on TikTok afterwards when he shared his reaction to the clip.

The ripped pants was not the only hiccup for the "Old Town Road" singer.

"At first I was afraid to even perform," he explained on Twitter. "Then we rehearsed for two weeks, then all of the dancers got removed because one had COVID and new ones had to learn the routine in 24 hours, and then I ended up ripping my pants and couldn’t finish. Everything happens for a reason tho lol."

Fans still went wild in the comments. "Pants ripping = A nightmare for anyone who has ever been on a stage, but he kept moving through it like a pro!" one fan noted.
