Jurors in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial have been presented with wide-ranging testimony examining her mental health and the events surrounding the 2023 deaths of her three children.
The Massachusetts mother was accused of killing her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan — and ex-husband Patrick Clancy on January 24, 2023. Cora and Dawson were pronounced dead at a Plymouth hospital that day, while Callan was airlifted to Boston Children's Hospital, where he died three days later.
On July 8, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office entered a nolle prosequi on the three strangulation counts, calling them "redundant" and saying they were covered by the three murder charges against Lindsay, to which she has pleaded not guilty.
Here's everything to know so far about the murder trial, which began with jury selection on July 20.
Lindsay Clancy's Mental Health Became a Central Focus of the Trial

Lindsay Clancy is accused of murdering her three young children in 2023.
Shortly after the court was called into session on July 27, Shanan Buckingham, who gave the opening statement for the prosecution, said Cora, Dawson and Callan were "deliberately and meticulously killed" more than three years ago. Lindsay was seen crying as the prosecutor described the gruesome events surrounding the children's deaths.
Shanan alleged that Lindsay made a "calculated decision" to murder the three children.
"This is not a public debate about women's mental health and how the medical system treats women. This case is about this defendant, Lindsay Clancy," the prosecutor added.
In the defense's opening statement, defense attorney Kevin Reddington said Lindsay was a "heck of a mother" who loved her children despite her struggles with mental health.
"She's living in her own h---. She knows what happened to those kids," Kevin said. "This is a young woman that, with her husband, tried very hard to get the help she needed."
The defense attorney argued Lindsay had "no motive" and "loved her children" before concluding his opening statement.
If Lindsay were found not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, she could be committed by the court to a psychiatric facility.
Patrick Clancy Said Lindsay Was Having 'One of Her Best Days' on The Day She Killed Her Children

The mom-of-three pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder.
Patrick, who has since remarried, took the stand as the first witness in the trial. He testified that Lindsay asked him to pick up takeout on the evening of January 24, 2023. When he returned to their Duxbury, Mass., home, he said he found "blood everywhere" in their bedroom and Lindsay lying in the backyard with "deep cuts on her wrists" and "a red line across her neck."
A 911 call captured Patrick yelling, "She killed the f------ kids," after he discovered the children.
During his testimony, Patrick described Lindsay's mental and physical health following the births of their three children.
"A lot of stress. There were days when she had all three kids, different nap schedules, different needs. It was just really stressful," he testified.
He also discussed Lindsay's hospital visits and treatment for insomnia, anxiety and depression, telling jurors that she "kept getting worse and worse" by the fall of 2022. Patrick said her "big spiral" began after she switched medications in December 2022.
"She started to lose a lot of weight, she became really depressed and was having a hard time. She started to say she was suicidal," he testified, adding Lindsay had told him she was experiencing intrusive thoughts about harming their children.
Patrick said he asked whether she believed she needed to be kept away from the children, and she told him she did not.
"It was very confusing because the next minute she was making them lunch or putting them to bed," he testified. "I never saw Lindsay harm the kids."
Concerns about her suicidal thoughts eventually led to Lindsay's hospitalization on December 31, 2022. She was discharged from McLean Hospital on January 5, 2023.
Patrick testified that on January 16, he went skiing with Cora while Lindsay stayed home with their two other children. He said Lindsay's mood "seemed better" around that time and described January 24, 2023 — the day the children died — as "one of her best days."
"She was playing with the kids, and she seemed in a good mood," he continued.
Patrick's statements echoed testimony from the Clancy family's nanny Elaine Rossi when she testified on August 5.
"I observed a wonderful mom who loved her kids," she said of Lindsay as a mother. "She was concerned about their safety, and Callan eating and sleeping. She was a wonderful mother."

Lindsay Clancy Wrote About Her Struggles in Her Diary

Patrick and Lindsay Clancy separated and divorced following the January 2023 tragedy.
Prosecutors read excerpts from Lindsay's diary while questioning a state police investigator on August 3.
In one entry, Lindsay wrote she was "completely overwhelmed" caring for her children, adding, "I feel like I'm drowning every day."
Additional journal excerpts were read to jurors on August 5. In one, Lindsay wrote she felt "incredibly sad and guilty" about not b------feeding Callan.
"I want help," she penned. "I want to be well."
Another entry described what Lindsay called "crazy brain fog."
"I feel like I can't make a plan. I live moment to moment waiting for the next nap time. I'm terrified of Cal getting overtired now because I feel [like I] can't help him," she wrote.
"Hearing him cry for 1 plus hours and not intervening just about killed me," she wrote, adding she had told her now-ex-husband, "I want to die."
The diary entries further documented her parenting stresses and postpartum issues. She wrote in another passage, "It's like I'm so desperate to get a mental break from taking care of everyone that my mind is trying to make something physically wrong with me."
The court also heard from medical experts who testified about the children's injuries.
Dr. Michael Snyder, who treated Cora, said the girl was not breathing and had no heartbeat when she arrived at the hospital. Cora was pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts failed.
Dr. Andrew Capraro, who treated Callan, testified the baby arrived cold, with ligature marks and swelling around his neck, and showed signs of brain damage. Callan was transferred to the ICU under the care of Dr. David Casavant, who, along with other doctors, determined he was brain dead. After consulting with the medical team, Patrick agreed to withdraw life support, and Callan was declared dead on January 27, 2023.
Another doctor testified that Dawson was not breathing and had no pulse when he arrived at the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
What the Toxicology Results Revealed

Lindsay Clancy was left paralyzed after an apparent suicide attempt on the night her three children were found.
On August 5, Justin Brower of NMS Labs testified that some of the drugs detected in Lindsay's system were below therapeutic levels and were not consistent with levels that would have contributed to a suicide attempt.
"Usually, people take handfuls of pills when they are trying to harm themselves and take their own life, and this is not consistent with that," the forensic toxicologist told jurors.
Under questioning from Lindsay's defense attorney, Justin acknowledged the toxicology results "don't tell the entire story."
The trial is expected to last between four and six weeks.
