A drastic new look! Mark Wahlberg looked unrecognizable on the set of Father Stu.
In pictures obtained over the weekend by Page Six, the 49-year-old donned a new buzzcut and wore a fat suit and prosthetics on set.
Wahlberg recently shared that he gained 20 pounds in three weeks in preparation for the role. According to Page Six, Wahlberg packed on the pounds by eating 7,000 calories per day on a customized meal plan.
The padding appears to mostly be around Wahlberg's stomach as he looked slimmer in recent Instagram posts.
"Woah," one user wrote. "They always put woman body transformations are insane in the headlines, but considering how crazy male actors are actually going from one extreme to another, I'd say this whole industry is everything but healthy for anyone," a concerned fan noted.
"Oscar nomination incoming," another user said.
"After we do the boxing scenes, I get to put on as much weight as possible over the course of the film, so I'm challenging myself to put on 30 pounds in the next six weeks," Wahlberg previously explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
"They want me to do it as healthy as possible, and I'm like, 'Dude, I've been on such a regimen for so long, I just want to eat everything in sight,'" the famously buff hunk shared. "I want to go to bakeries. I want to go to Denny's. I want to get pancakes. I want to get everything that I can possibly get my hands on."
The film is about Stuart Long who turned to boxing while in a Catholic college for release, but his career did not take off due to a broken jaw. He then moved to Los Angeles, Calif., to pursue an acting career, which also did not pan out after a motorcycle accident. Long then had an out-of-body experience in the hospital and rediscovered his faith, but was diagnosed with a rare degenerative muscle disease while studying and was on crutches by the time he was ordained.
