Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix Gamble: Royal Rebels Accused of 'P------ Money Away' for 'Unwatchable Trash'

Prince Harry's POLO will be the fourth project of the Duke and Meghan Markle's $100 million dollar Netflix deal, and early reactions to the documentary's trailer "are not promising."

This led an anonymous Hollywood exec to spill, "This looks like it has failed to capture the imagination."

"They still have Meghan’s cooking show to screen next year but there is very little tolerance for p------ money away these days," they added.

The duo's streaming gamble coincides with ongoing debates on whether "non-Sussex diehards" care about the pair's content unless it's exposing royal drama.

"It’s debatable whether anyone cares about these two if they are not serving up outrageous stories about the royals," the Tinseltown senior executive continued. "They are running out of last chances to prove that isn’t so. If they can’t, they could try to monetize their fame on social media. Plenty of people would still give Harry a million bucks for a post."

Another insider stated, "Well, unless POLO or the cooking nonsense surprise everyone, that is basically it for the Sussex/Netflix portfolio, which will become one of the worst entertainment deals in recent memory."

A friend of the ex-working royals responded to the takedowns by observing, "You do see plenty of rich kids but there are also plenty of kids from less rarefied backgrounds who just happen to be fantastic riders who are sponsored by the teams. It doesn’t look like this show is going to foreground that, which is a real missed opportunity."

Kate, Princess of Wales, announced the end of her successful cancer treatments in a cinematic video in early September showcasing images of herself, Prince William and their three children. Only hours later, a teaser tweet on X from Netflix about POLO dropped, leading many to wonder if it could be yet another coincidence.

Although it is unknown if the streamer tease was timed to coincide with Her Royal Highness' video, one commenter on X shared, "F--- off you losers with your unwatchable trash. I'm sure you will release it during Catherine's Christmas special. Boycott Netflix!"

The Princess of Wales' annual "Together at Christmas" concert will occur on December 6 with Harry's new show dropping on the streamer four days later on December 10.

Netflix said of the show, "POLO is a new documentary series that follows elite global players and offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport. From Archewell Productions and Boardwalk Pictures."

The pair signed their deal with the streaming giant during the autumn of 2020, and the contract will expire next fall. POLO follows three previous non-fiction projects the Sussex duo gave the network. Only their second, 2022's royal secret-filled Harry & Meghan, became a hit for the entertainment colossus.
