Prince William Is 'Impatient' and 'Can’t Wait to Ascend the Throne': Source
Prince William was described as selfish in his quest to become King and dismissive of his father, King Charles III's, "passions" for environmentalism in favor of his own initiatives.
"The Prince of Wales can’t wait to ascend the throne. And a real impatience is created around him," author Omid Scobie wrote in his new book, Endgame.
In the much-anticipated follow-up to 2020's Finding Freedom, the biographer spends pages profiling both King Charles III and the Prince of Wales ever since the former acceded to the British throne in September 2022. Although the text primarily focuses on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since 2020's "Megxit," a look at how the royal family is evolving after the death of Queen Elizabeth II is also featured.
William is depicted as something of a callous character who had no regard for his father's decades-long work for the environment, which allegedly saddened the King when his son left him out of his Earthshot Prinze awards. The website for the initiative states: "We face our greatest challenge; to regenerate the place we all call home in the next 10 years. We believe in the power of human ingenuity to prove to us all that the seemingly impossible is possible."
Charles III, while Prince of Wales, started championing the cause of environmentalism in the early 1970s and became one of the biggest well-known personalities of the time to speak out on the issue.
Endgame will also explore how the King and Prince of Wales treated Harry on the day Elizabeth II passed away — September 8, 2022.
"'You should answer it,' Meghan told him. He tapped accept just before it stopped. Harry hadn’t spoken to his father much that year, but this was not the time for any father-and-son tension. Charles told him he and Camilla were about to leave Dumfries House for Balmoral, where Princess Anne was already by the Queen’s side," Scobie wrote when describing an unlisted phone call Harry received that morning.
The book continued: "He told Harry to make his way to Scotland immediately. William, whom Charles had just spoken to, was supposedly working on arranging travel. Harry sent a text message to his brother, asking how he and Kate planned to get to Scotland and whether they could travel together. No response."

The Duke of Sussex ultimately did not make it to northern Scotland in time to say goodbye to his grandmother. The fiery-haired prince arrived at Balmoral nearly five hours after the late Queen died, and his father became the new monarch. He would later speak about the icy reception he experienced, even in light of a devastating tragedy for the monarchy.
