A Dashing John Waters Buddies Up To Stylish Rachel Brosnahan On Set Of 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' — Photos
Grab your bottle of hairspray, Midge! The iconic John Waters is coming to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
In newly released photos from the upcoming fourth season, Emmy Award-winning star Rachel Brosnahan was snapped alongside the filmmaker-actor shooting scenes for the show’s highly anticipated return.
Though details of Waters’ character has remained under wraps, the Hairspray creator can be seen chatting with Brosnahan’s Miriam “Midge” Maisel on a city bench. But we think it’s safe to say that the 74-year-old, known for his comedic genius, was no doubt giving the show’s titular stand-up comic some pointers on how to land the perfect joke.
After all — spoilers ahead! — Midge hit with a stunning setback at the conclusion of the show’s third season. During a gig at the Apollo Theater, in which she was opening for famed singer Shy Baldwin, the stand-up star took things a step too far when she nearly outted him onstage, resulting in getting dropped from his tour.
Currently shooting its fourth season, the show’s cast and crew have been hard at work on the coronavirus-safe set since January after the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to delay production.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, premiered in March 2017 on Amazon Prime Video. Taking place in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the comedy series stars Brosnahan as Midge, a down-on-her luck housewife in New York City who, amid a split from her husband, discovers she has a knack for stand-up comedy and quickly rises to superstardom.
