Russell Dickerson Reveals His Dream Artists After Teaming Up With the Jonas Brothers and Fetty Wap

Russell Dickerson has collaborated with notable artists, including the Jonas Brothers and Fetty Wap, but he is still holding out hope he can link up with three icons.

"As far as country goes, Tim McGraw or George Strait. That'd be wild — or Usher. I've always been a huge fan of Usher," the country star, 39, who partnered with Hershey’s to invite fans to reconnect with one of summer’s simplest rituals: making s’mores, ahead of National S'mores Day on August 10, exclusively tells OK!. "That would be sick."

The "Yours" singer, who shares two boys with a third child on the way with wife Kailey Dickerson, has had a stellar year — from touring all over the country to going viral on TikTok with his hit song "Happen to Me," he's been soaking up every moment.

"Anytime I ever start to get distracted or down with this crazy business we're in, I'm just like, 'Dude, you have a song with Fetty Wap,'" he quips, referring to the duo's hit "Boots." "I love the song. We have a dope song with Fetty Wap. Seeing people post videos of it at the lake or making it their song of the summer... It turns out I wasn't depressed — I just needed a song with Fetty Wap."

He continues, "Again, this past year has just been crazy. Between the Jonas Brothers and Fetty Wap seeing my video with however many million views and then wanting to do a song... it's wild."

It's not lost on the crooner how far he's come ever since he broke out with his song "Yours" in 2017.

"It's still hard to believe this is me. I've done this for so long, and I've been dreaming of this for so long. Then all of a sudden it happened. This year Red Rocks [in Colorado] sold out, and I'm just like, 'I can't believe almost 10,000 people came to Red Rocks to see me.' I almost feel bad. A lot of you guys came from Jersey or California or wherever — not just Colorado. You bought plane tickets, hotel rooms, all this stuff. It's just the wildest feeling," he says.

For now, the dad-of-two is enjoying life on the road and giving it his all at each concert.

"I don't want to give any energy away from the show. I want 100 percent of me to go to the fans. That's why we're here. I've been writing in between show dates. When we're home — we went down to the beach for a few days — we wrote a bunch of songs. That's when I'm writing. On the road, 100 percent of me has to go to the fans," he insists.

Additionally, Russell's family is able to join him on tour and watch him each night.

"We just started pulling a car behind our bus, which is the best decision I could have ever made. To all the artists — this is very niche — but if you're an artist with kids, you have to have a car. Then you can take them to the children's museum or the playground. We can see our kids whenever we want to see them, and when it's work time, it's work time. It's beautiful. I love it," he says.

Since Russell is so family centric, it was a no-brainer for him to partner with Hershey’s.

Hershey’s is making the s’mores the ritual that reconnects us – a simple, familiar act that bridges generations, revives old memories, and creates new ones. To help bring people together and spark conversation around the campfire, Russell is encouraging people to join the “Heated Debate” by sharing which camp you’re in – Toasty or Gooey. "With this life we live, there are a lot of opportunities and things, but with a breakup song, there's also this nostalgic bit — looking back on the good times. That's what I always try to do. I always try to keep the vibes high. I don't like to talk about the negative stuff. That's just part of who I am, I guess," he shares. "S'mores are that beautiful combination of nostalgia and bringing it all the way into the current day with National S'mores Day. No matter where you are — with family, friends, or on the road — we have our own little fire pit just for s'mores and after-show hangs. We go together like Hershey's and a marshmallow."

As for what team Russell is on, he says, "It's like a brisket, right? Slow roasting — you've got to get it all the way through. So I'm Team Gooey because I want the marshmallow to be molten all the way through. Once it hits that Hershey's chocolate, I want them to fuse together. I don't want it to be too crunchy. I want it to all just be melty s'more-y because you're by a fire, right? Everything should be warm, gooey and melty. On National S'mores Day, you can find me around a campfire — probably outside my bus —with my family and band, cooking up the perfect gooey Hershey's s'more."
