Could He Be Any More Foolish? Sarah Paulson Reveals Matthew Perry Once Shot Her Down At A Make-Out Party
The one where Chandler Bing almost swapped spit with Nurse Mildred Ratched.
During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, June 21, Sarah Paulson revealed that Matthew Perry shot her down at a “make-out party” thrown by Gore Vidal.
“I didn’t see anyone make out, but there was a hat with names in it, and you were supposed to make out with whomever you pulled out of the hat,” the 46-year-old revealed of the event, which the late Carrie Fisher invited her to. “Matthew Perry pulled my name out of the hat, and promptly left the room.”
“I saw him, and he was like, ‘Oh well, I got you,’ and I was like, ‘Well, let’s kiss,’” she continued. “And he was like, no.”
But Perry had his reasons, the American Horror Story explained, noting she and the Friends alum, 51, shared a mutual friend and that it would have been “awkward.”
However, Paulson eventually got pecked by Perry when the two starred as lovers in 2008’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: “I got my kiss, I got several kisses — and boy, did he regret not taking me up .. at Gore Vidal’s make-out party.”

During his heyday, Perry had quite the reputation as a ladies' man. He dated a bevy of Hollywood beauties, including Julia Roberts, Baywatch alum Yasmine Bleeth and Mean Girls' Lizzy Caplan.
Most recently, he was engaged to talent manager Molly Hurtwitz — but he called things off in June. “Sometimes things just don’t work out,” Perry said in a statement at the time, “and this is one of them.”
Meanwhile, Perry has been making headlines as of late following his appearance on HBO Max’s Friends: The Reunion. The 17 Again star — who has famously battled substance abuse issues — sparked concern when he appeared to slur his speech while filming a promo for the special. (However, a source later confirmed that his slurred speech was due to an emergency dental procedure he had done that day.)
In 2016, Perry admitted to BBC Radio 2 that his addiction has impacted the way he remembers the beloved NBC sitcom. "I don’t remember three years of it," he said of Friends. "I was a little out of it at the time — somewhere between seasons three and six."
Kimmel, 53, and Paulson seemingly referenced Perry's issues while discussing their chat. The late-night host quipped, “I think Matthew might not remember some of those nights,” prompting the Ratched star to agree: “He probably thinks we did make out at that party.”
