Sean Duffy and Wife Ridiculed by Critics for Revealing They Have a 'Get in the Mood Playlist': 'Why Do We Need to Know This?'

Sean Duffy and his wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy, are being ribbed online after a resurfaced clip showed them discussing a playlist they use to set a romantic mood.

The Transportation Secretary, 54, and the Fox News host, also 54, made the comments on an old episode of their joint podcast, "From the Kitchen Table: The Duffys," which ran from 2021 to 2024.

The clip spread on social media this week, prompting a wave of reactions from users who questioned why the couple shared the detail.

The exchange began with Sean reflecting on music as a bond. Sharing musical interests brings people closer together, he said, before trailing off. His wife finished the thought, saying with a laugh that the two keep a romantic playlist to inspire their intimate moments.

"We have a 'get in the mood' playlist," she explained in the video. "Let's not lie about that. We call it our 'love playlist.'"

Rachel leaned into the admission. There was no point pretending otherwise, she said. She also named one artist on it, the singer Sade, saying she wouldn't hold back about her fondness for the musician.

Of course, people thought the confession was cringe. One person wrote, "Why do we need to know this?" while another said, Nobody: The Duffys: let’s talk about our s-- life."

A third added, "The playlist includes them rewatching episodes of The Real World they were on."

The moment resurfaced years after the episode first aired. A popular X account called @FactPostNews posted the clip this week, where it gained hundreds of thousands of views and drew a stream of reactions from users who found the disclosure oversharing.

Many of the responses were tongue-in-cheek. Some users joked that they had learned more about the couple's private life than they wanted to, while others quipped that the mention had spoiled a favorite Sade song for them.

A number of commenters questioned why a Cabinet official felt the need to share the detail at all, with one asking why the public needed to know.

The playlist clip is the latest moment from the couple's media output to circulate widely. The two have leaned into their reality-television roots throughout Sean's tenure, having first met on MTV's Road Rules: All Stars in the late 1990s after he appeared on The Real World: Boston.

More recently, the couple released a YouTube travel series, The Great American Road Trip, documenting a cross-country trip with their family. That series also drew commentary online, including over a clip in which Sean discussed his daughter's college plans.

The family have generally responded to criticism by defending their content and pushing back against detractors.

Sean and Rachel have been married since 1999 and share nine children. Both built public profiles in media before entering politics, with Rachel as a Fox News personality and Sean as a former congressman from Wisconsin who also worked as a television commentator.

Sean was confirmed as Transportation Secretary in the second Trump administration and has also served for stretches in an acting capacity at another federal agency.
