Survivor’s Season 50 premiere surprised fans with an opening challenge and loads of drama.

Survivor’s 50th season launched with its biggest cast ever: 24 contestants spanning eras from Season 1’s Jenna Lewis-Dougherty to the most recent winner, Survivor 49’s Savannah, all greeted in Fiji by Jeff Probst.
The game escalated fast after the opening marooning challenge, when a major twist forced each tribe to send one player to compete for supplies without knowing the task ahead of time.
Coach vs. Ozzy: The 'Honorable' Win That Didn’t Feel So Honorable

Ozzy and Coach went head-to-head in a supplies showdown.
Q, Ozzy, and Coach stepped up for the supplies showdown, setting up a faceoff between longtime Survivor figures Ozzy and Coach. Ozzy led much of the multi-stage battle, but after he struggled and injured his back trying to dislodge a key, Coach ultimately grabbed it and dragged it to victory — after Ozzy tried to secure a “no stealing” gentleman’s agreement that Coach never actually accepted, according to Entertainment Weekly’s behind-the-scenes recap. The win set the tone: reputations matter, but advantage matters more.
Cirie Gets Named… and Jenna Pays the Price

Jenna Lewis was the first person to be sent home in Season 50 of 'Survivor.'
Over on Cila, Jenna wasted no time identifying fifth-time returnee Cirie Fields as her target. The tension only grew after the first immunity challenge, when Cirie struggled on a key throwing portion that EW reported went on for a long time and visibly frustrated the tribe.
Still, when it was time to vote, Jenna’s pushback boomeranged. Despite Jenna voting for Cirie, the rest of the tribe aligned to vote out Jenna — making the first person from Season 1 also the first person sent home in Season 50.

A Heartbreaking Medical Evacuation Changes Everything

Vatu’s victory turned bittersweet when Kyle injured his ankle and was removed.
The premiere’s biggest gut punch came on Vatu. During a muddy immunity obstacle that required players to climb a steep wall, Kyle injured his ankle while helping Colby, and doctors later assessed it as a likely torn Achilles’ tendon. Even though Vatu won immunity, Dr. Joe Rowles ruled Kyle had to be removed from the game — despite his pleas. Tribemates broke down, and Colby and Q lifted Kyle into the boat as he exited, asking someone to win it all.
Big, Weird and Very 'Survivor'

Survivor 50 contestants were welcomed and greeted in Fiji by Jeff Probst.
The episode also leaned into spectacle, with celebrity cameos and an early twist via a “Billie Eilish Boomerang Immunity Idol,” while still delivering what fans expect: fast gameplay, messy dynamics and immediate consequences.
Survivor airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
