'Teen Mom' Star Amber Portwood Reveals Her Relationship With Her Daughter Leah Is 'So Much Better' Now
Amber Portwood revealed that her relationship with her daughter has improved.
Portwood and her 13-year-old daughter Leah's strained relationship has been well-documented on Teen Mom OG, but things seem to be looking up for the mother and daughter.
"I don’t want to mess anything up, but [things are] good," the 31-year-old told Page Six. "She’s reaching [out] and I am [so excited]. My arms are up and open." She noted that things are "so much better" between them nowadays.
The reality star told the outlet that Leah has been asking questions about her past, which includes time behind bars and addiction. "I’ve always told her the truth, as much as I could for her age," Portwood said.
"As she’s gotten older, she’s learned more. With her age right now, she’s kind of like, 'Well, I don’t like that attitude or behavior. I’m not like that,'" the mother of two explained. "I think she has every right to be mad at me for a lot of things … I let her feel her emotions and I understand that."

Portwood and her ex Gary Shirley butted heads during the Teen Mom OG reunion which aired on Tuesday, November 30, after Shirley revealed that Leah was going to therapy.
Portwood was supportive of her daughter getting therapy but did not appreciate hearing about it for the first time during the special. The Never Too Late author stormed off the set.
"You came out here with some bull crap," she told Shirley. "I just found out on camera, of course. Everything that you do is for television."
