Hilarious Memes From The Weeknd's Halftime Show Have Stormed The Internet — See The Best Reactions
While the Super Bowl halftime shows are always full of twists and turns, The Weeknd's performance at Super Bowl LV on Sunday, February 7, proved to be a little too much — and Twitter users couldn't help but specifically make fun of the singer's trippy funhouse scene.
The Weeknd performed some of his biggest hits, including "Starboy," "The Hills" and "Blinding Lights" — with lookalike bandaged dancers who appeared in the mirrored, fun-house room. As he recently explained, The Weeknd has been using face bandages over the past few months to reflect the "absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves for superficial reasons to please and be validated."
In between his performance in the stands and on the field, the "Save Your Tears" crooner, 30, took a hand-held camera into a gold, mirrored room. The camera followed The Weeknd as he moved around the bright interior and sang "Cant' Feel My Face" alongside his masked dancers.
As OK! previously reported, The Weeknd — whose real name is Abel Tesfaye — spent "almost $7 million of his own money beyond the already generous budgets to make this halftime show be what he envisioned," his publicist dished. And despite his effort to create a jaw-dropping show, fans seemed too preoccupied by the dizzying performance in the mirrored room to focus on his sequined red blazer, bandaged dancers and creative set-up.
