Travis Kelce Is Very 'Cautious' About Protecting Wife Taylor Swift in Latest NYC Outing, Body Language Expert Reveals: 'Looks Hypervigilant'

Newlyweds Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce stepped out in New York on Monday, September 7, and a body language expert said the Kansas City Chiefs tight end looked notably watchful over his new wife.

Analyst Darren Stanton, speaking to Covers, read Kelce as "hypervigilant" and "protective" as the couple arrived at the Ambassadors Clubhouse, about two months after they married.

Stanton pointed to Kelce's posture as the clearest tell when it comes to Kelce's altered behavor post-marriage.

"He has got his torso pointed towards Taylor, which is a protection gesture," Stanton said. "He is very cautious and his eyes are looking around. It's almost a primal instinct. At that moment, he looks very hypervigilant."

He extended that read to another image that was analyzed, where Kelce held Swift's hand.

"Taylor isn't waving to cameras and is looking down, and her shoulders are up," Stanton said. "Travis isn't smiling and looks quite serious. He seems very conscious of making sure that his wife is feeling okay."

The analyst advised that this seemed like the couple wanting some downtime rather than performing for onlookers.

According to Stanton, the couple's public behavior has changed since they wed.

"Since they've got married, they've moved on from being a showbiz couple that are constantly on show and being on their best behavior," he said. "The main difference is that they are not so eager to be the life and soul of the party and get papped by the cameras."

He read that as a couple settling in rather than cooling off.

"The body language doesn't have the same degree of animation," Stanton said. "Initially when they first got together, they were playing up to the cameras. Now they are husband and wife, in a positive sense, they have become more stable and don't have to perform for the paparazzi."

Stanton described the overall impression he got from the couple as mutual affection.

"It's clear that he loves her deeply and that is reciprocated," he said, adding that Kelce has taken on a lot more responsibility since the relationship began. The couple "seem very comfortable as people in their relationship."

He summed them up as having grown into married life quickly.

"They've settled in and grown up in a short space of time," Stanton said. "Taylor and Travis are authentic in their own skin. They are both totally on the same page."

Swift and Kelce tied the knot on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York, in a heavily guarded ceremony officiated by Adam Sandler. The wedding drew a crowd of famous guests and was announced to the public with a "JUST&T MARRIED" message on the arena's marquee, capping a romance that had played out in the spotlight since 2023.

The pair have kept a relatively lower profile since the wedding, and their New York outing was among their first notable public appearances as a married couple.

Swift, 35, is preparing for continued work tied to her music, while Kelce, 35, is back in the season with the Chiefs.
