COUPLESWABC's Liz Cho Files for Protective Order Amid Contentious Divorce From Josh Elliott

New York's WABC news anchor Liz Cho filed a protective order strictly to block ex-husband Josh Elliott’s legal team from deposing her on a date that conflicted with her attorneys' schedules. The legal filing has nothing to do with personal safety; rather, it is a procedural move to protect her from scheduling conflicts, "annoyance, embarrassment, oppression, or undue burden."
Elliott, also a journalist, rose to national prominence as a co-anchor on ESPN's morning edition of SportsCenter and later as the news anchor for ABC's Good Morning America during its peak ratings run.
The couple's relationship began as an ABC newsroom romance in 2012 and has culminated in a contentious divorce battle.
Inside Liz Cho and Josh Elliot's Relationship
The estranged spouses were married for a decade before they split.
The couple met in 2012 while working under the ABC News umbrella. Elliott was a rising co-anchor on Good Morning America while Cho was (and remains) the evening co-anchor for New York affiliate WABC-TV’s Eyewitness News.
After a two-year engagement, they married on July 11, 2015, in Montecito, Calif. The wedding was officiated by their former ABC colleague, weatherman Sam Champion, and attended by Cho's co-anchor Bill Ritter.
Both entered the marriage with kids from previous relationships — Elliott has a daughter, Sarina, with his first wife, Priya Narang, and Cho has a daughter, Louisa, with her first husband, Evan Gottlieb. They did not have children together.
The Split Turned Messy
Liz Cho claimed Josh Elliott secretly moved furniture out of their home while she was on vacation.
After nearly ten years of marriage, Elliott filed for divorce in June 2025, stating the union was "broken down irretrievably.”
The primary financial asset at stake is their multimillion dollar marital home in Fairfield County, Conn. Cho accused Elliott of secretly moving out of the home in January 2026 and using a truck to clear out furniture while she was away on vacation.
Cho's legal team filed the motion on July 17 after Elliott's lawyers scheduled her deposition for July 23 without checking her availability.

The two began dating in 2012 as ABC employees.
Cho claimed her team informed Elliott's side of the pre-existing conflicts and offered alternative dates, but received no response because his counsel was reportedly on vacation.
The protective order is just the latest friction point in a highly contentious divorce that began when Elliott filed to end their nearly 10-year marriage in June 2025. In August 2026, the case escalated through several messy developments.
Following a late-July virtual hearing, the judge ordered Cho to hand over years of private texts about potential romantic partners after she had demanded the same from Elliott.
The divorce trial is currently scheduled for October.
The court ordered Cho to turn over communications showing whether she or anyone representing her spoke to journalists about their split.
The exes have clashed bitterly over household belongings, missing jewelry, the custody of their two Portuguese water dogs and petty disputes — including Elliott accusing Cho of "lashing out" after he washed grapes for his daughter's lunch.
The case is currently heading toward a full divorce trial, which has been delayed until October.
