Gap Profiles Teen Indie Pop Singer-Songwriter Willa Amai For Fall 2021 Campaign, Musician Says She Is 'Beyond Thrilled'
Young up-and-coming musician Willa Amai has been profiled as part of Gap's Fall 2021 campaign.
The 17-year-old, who is being mentored by Linda Perry, was tapped as one of the INDIVIDUALS Shine as part of the Gap Amplifies Voices Through Diverse Ensemble of Modern Changemakers Campaign.
Amai's fifth single "Blows By" from her debut album I Can Go to Bed Whenever was used in her teaser for the GAP campaign. The single is to release as part of the campaign. "Blows By" is the upcoming video that was also shot as an accompanying video from the project.
"I am so beyond thrilled and honored to be a part of this GAP campaign. Advocating for activism and individuality has always been so important to me, and I will forever be indebted to Gap and everyone who worked on this project for allowing me to do that!" she said in a press release.
The singer already boasts 2.1 million streams on Apple and 3.8 million streams on Spotify.

The campaign plans to capture the essence of the INDIVIDUALS in 15-second clips in a take on the concept of "15 minutes of fame."
Also featured in the campaign are award-winning director Chloé Zhao, actress JaShaun St. John, aspiring astronaut Alyssa Carson, actor Angus Cloud, BASL activist for the Black Deaf Nakia Smith, the Ebinum Brothers Victory and Marvel, actress Helena Howard, artist Delfin Finley and musician Kailand Morris.
"This dimensional cast of INDIVIDUALS embodies modern American optimism," global head of Gap marketing Mary Alderete said in a press release. "Gap continues to amplify the voices of change-making and culture shaping INDIVIDUALS, celebrating who they are and what makes them a true representation of the voices of today. These incredible individuals characterize an optimistic future fueled by creativity, possibility and unity."
The campaign was conceived by Gap Global Creative Director Len Peltier. It was directed by Christian Weber and the portraits were shot by Mark Seliger. Weber and Seliger have been capturing signature Gap creative projects since the 1990s.
