The 2019 Teen Choice Awards took place on Sunday, August 11, in Hermosa Beach, California. Several A-list stars from Taylor Swift to Sarah Hyland arrived in style at the big event, however there were some noticeable people missing like Shawn Mendes, who won multiple awards.

Shawn, 21, earned three trophies including Choice Male Artist and Choice Summer Song for "Senorita" featuring rumored girlfriend Camila Cabello.

The "Stitches" singer had a good reason for bailing on the TCA's. He was performing in Newark, New Jersey, during the US leg of his tour while the show was taking place.

Other notable no-shows included most of the Riverdale cast minus KJ Apa. The CW series won Best Drama with its leading stars, Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart, scoring Choice TV Drama Actor and Actress.

There were still several memorable moments from the stars who made it out for the big night. Taylor, 29, urged fans to stand up for gender equality while accepting this year's Icon award.

"First I want to talk about Alex Morgan," Taylor said about the co-captain of the World-Cup-winning U.S. Women's National soccer team who presented her with the honor. "The fact that she's here presenting this to me is such an honor. Not only winning the World Cup with her amazing teammates, right? But while they were winning the World Cup, they were also taking a historic stand in terms of gender equality, gender pay gaps. Please, please, please support her and her teammates because this isn't over yet. It's not resolved."

Ken Jeong poked fun at Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau's marriage during the show, calling it "pretend" and saying that it will lead to a "fake divorce."
