Abbie and John David Duggar welcomed their daughter, Grace Annette, on January 7 and are settling into life with a newborn. In a new video posted on January 22, the couple revealed the special meaning behind their baby girl’s name.

“Deciding on her name was pretty easy,” John David, 30, said in a video posted on TLC Me. “Abbie said she liked the name Grace and that’s Abbie’s middle name. My mom’s middle name is Annette. Grace Annette sounded like it went together so it was about that easy.”

Abbie, 27, added, “We were like ‘Yeah that sounds good! We love that.’”

The couple opened up about adjusting to life with a newborn in an interview with Us Weekly. “We are settling into our new routine of life, which has included a few long nights as Gracie is still trying to figure out the difference between day and night!” John David and Abbie told Us.

“Mom and baby are both doing well, and we are very much in love with her! It’s also been so nice to have good advice and help from our families. We are grateful for all the support they’ve shown us in this new and wonderful phase of our life,” they added.

The couple welcomed their daughter on January 7 in the early hours of the morning. At the time, the Counting On stars told Us, “Our lives have changed forever with the arrival of our baby girl. She is a beautiful gift from God. We are so blessed the Lord has given her to us. It’s still surreal to know that we are really parents but it’s a great new adventure that we are excited to take on together.”

Abbie went through a difficult pregnancy and was hospitalized several times due to hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and electrolyte disturbance,” according to the American Pregnancy Association. “Mild cases are treated with dietary changes, rest, and antacids. More severe cases often require a stay in the hospital so that the mother can receive fluid and nutrition through an intravenous line (IV).”

“It hit her hard, and she was down for probably seven weeks,” John David told Us in October. “She was hospitalized a couple times. We made multiple visits to the ER for dehydration. She couldn’t eat, pretty much, or drink, or anything. So she was actually on IVs and had IVs at home. So that was a pretty scary time.”
