Alfonso Ribeiro has been a fan favorite to win the Mirrorball trophy all season, and now it looks like he may have to hang up his dancing shoes.
After suffering a back injury, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum has been unable to participate in rehearsals for the semifinals on Monday, US Weekly reports. A source told the website that producers are “worried he could cause long-term damage to his back.”
In a clip from DWTS, the contestant said after being unable to continue rehearsals because of his back pain, “It took my breath away. I started to feel incredible pain in my back and every movement just started to hurt more and more.”
“I really want to keep going, but I just don’t know if my body is going to let me continue,” he explained.

It all started when the actor performed the highly anticipated dance from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the Carlton. Alfonso confessed weeks after the dance, “I hurt my groin doing the Carlton. I think I did it so hard that I actually pulled it.”
But if Alfonso did injure himself weeks ago, he isn’t showing it! Just Monday he snagged a perfect score for his paso doble with his partner Witney Carson.
