Amanda Bynes is getting the help she needs. In a new interview, her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, opened up about the actress’ decision to enter a treatment facility last month.
After being thrust back into the spotlight following her November 2018 Paper magazine interview, Amanda, 33, realized she wasn’t well. “She really wasn’t feeling like herself all of sudden and she wanted to address that,” Tamar told Access Hollywood.
The Paper feature itself explored the Nickelodeon alum’s past drug use and public breakdown, and its publication left a lasting impression on her.
“She wanted to address it right away before going back into show business and exploring show business again.” Tamar continued. “And it was her decision and her choice to address the situation, seek treatment which I think is an incredibly mature way of handling this type of thing.”

Tamar also spoke candidly about how the She’s The Man star has been spending her days since entering treatment. “Amanda’s day to day is really just focusing on her wellbeing,” she explained. “She’s exercising, yoga, she’s really focusing in on herself, which is very, very important. I know that she will be sure this time around to focus on herself and get better before she leaves the treatment center or wherever she’s seeking help currently.”
Though Amanda previously expressed her desire to return to acting, those plans are now on hold. Instead, she will return to her academic studies at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
“She absolutely is still studying and she’s so amazed with FIDM because, as a school, they’ve been so supportive of her this entire time,” Tamar said. “She can’t wait to get back to the FIDM campus and be creative again.”
