Anthony Anderson is the latest celebrity to join the reboot of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. HGTV announced on September 25 that the actor will be joining the home renovation series, which previously ran on ABC from 2003 until 2012. The revival will feature a new host, big surprises, and other heartwarming stories. Time for Anthony, 49, to get ready to move that bus!
“On Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, I will be part of making a real impact on a family’s future,” Anthony said of his new position. “The joy of working alongside people in the community to help a family get a fresh start in their new home is extraordinary.”
“Anthony’s humor, tremendous talent, fun-loving personality and desire to help will make a lasting impact on these deserving families,” said Jane Latman, president of HGTV, in regards to the exciting addition.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson is slated to host the revival of the series, stepping in for the show’ former host, carpenter Ty Pennington. His new role was announced in June. “I was so inspired by the original series and now I can’t wait to help families as the new host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” he said.
The original series was cancelled in December 2011 and finished its original run on January 13, 2012. HGTV announced in January that they were bringing the heartfelt series back in 2020. The network is planning to air 10 new episodes. Ty, 54, originally hinted at the series coming back in October 2018, and HGTV reportedly considered doing a revival of the show for some time.
According to People, more surprises in the series will be unveiled as the premiere date gets closer. It could be anyone’s guess what is in store for the revival.
