Though he's been locked away in prison for over a year now, Apollo Nida has managed to keep his name relevant and the drama stirring as he serves his eight-year sentence for fraud. And from his jailhouse letters to the continued battle with his estranged wife, Phaedra Parks, we've gathered all of Nida's biggest prison scandals!
One of the most public scandals Nida, 37, continues to face is the fight with his ex Parks, 44, to see the former couple's two young sons, Ayden and Dylan. He's blasted her in jailhouse interviews over her refusal to bring the little ones to see him. However, Parks has remained adamant that she will do what's best for her sons, a point she stressed in her Bravo blog following the Nov. 29 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
In her post, Parks explained that she missed the ladies’ group boat trip due to her son’s being sick and will always put her babies first! “Being a mom is my first priority, and no boat trip could ever keep me from soothing my ailing sons. The real reality is motherhood often includes many sleepless nights, very long days, and sometimes you have to drop what you're doing and put on your mommy cape for you children. While the girls were drinking like fish and becoming senselessly sensitive, I was doing what was most important, being mommy to the Prince and President,” she said.
Nida is also facing questions regarding the status of his relationship with Parks! Ahead of the premiere of RHOA’s Season 7 in 2014, Parks claimed that she was planning to file for divorce from Nida. But by the premiere of the show’s Season 8 in November 2015, she still had yet to file any divorce papers. Many are questioning if there may be hope for a reconciliation between the two. However, Parks’ feud with Nida over the former couple’s children visiting him in prison has left most convinced the two are definitely done for good.
A fan of Nida’s also claimed that the reality TV star demanded that she send him money after she wrote him a letter of encouragement and sent him a book during his time in prison. In a reply letter to the woman, Nida told her that he appreciated her sending the book. But he then went on to ask that she send him money through Western Union!
The woman said she declined his request, though. “I just wrote him back, thanked him for reading the book & respectfully told him that I have a daughter and b4 I send money to a guy I don’t know I’d rather put that 25 in her savings account,” she told The Shade Room in a post about her letters with Nida. And she added that Nida replied her second letter as well, dissing her explanation for why she didn’t send the cash!
But money woes aren’t the only issues Nida has encountered while behind bars. In her tell-all book Sordid Panties: Celebrities, Thots, Money & Scandal, Atlanta, Georgia, stripper Cashaun Sidney claimed that she smoked weed and drank with Nida during a scandalous night in 2014 at the home he shared with Parks. She said that she was accompanied by one of her friends and that the incident happened while Nida was still living with Parks!
“After smoking pot, we went back into the house to prepare for our night out. We walked up stairs and he escorted us into the baby’s room. Yes the baby’s room of all the rooms. He asked my friend if she wanted to take a shower in the baby’s bathroom and she said yes,” she said. In the book, Sidney said that she left the room. But she claimed that Nida ended up staying in the room with her friend. “Were they both in the baby’s room taking a shower?” she questioned, “I don’t know.”
Nida also faced a little drama over the ATV and motorcycle that he hid at Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker's home ahead of his imprisonment. Nida, who is good friends with Tucker, asked that the couple keep his bikes during his time away in prison. They agreed, storing the items in their garage. But according to reports, after an argument between Parks and Burruss during an episode of RHOA’s Season 8 revealed that the duo had the bikes, the feds began making moves to seize the bikes as part of Nida’s $2 million restitution in his fraud case!
All of Nida’s scandals haven’t been that heartbreaking, though. After serving his first year in prison at Kentucky’s FMC Lexington, Nida secretly moved to New Jersey’s FCI Fort Dix — the same prison where Joe Giudice will serve his sentence. “He transferred about two weeks ago,” an insider told RadarOnline.com in December 2015. The move came just weeks after Nida told RadarOnline.com in a jailhouse letter that he would be released from prison early. However, The Federal Bureau of Prisons knocked Nida's statement, saying that Nida’s release date is still August 29, 2020. What to do you think about Apollo’s prison scandals and secrets?
