Ariana Grande released a surprise single, “Thank U, Next,” on November 3. The song mentions all of her past relationships, including her most recent ex, Pete Davidson, and other exes, including Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, and the late Mac Miller. Last night, for the first time the singer performed her new single and broke down about one particular guy mentioned. Scroll for more details.
Ariana went on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and performed her highly praised new single. During the performance, she wore a white dress and the stage was set up like a wedding reception.
The setting seemed like a possible ode to Pete and the lyrics in the song, "Even almost got married/ And for Pete, I'm so thankful”.
Ariana and Pete reportedly split due to the singer’s grief over her late ex-boyfriend Mac who died in September due to an overdose. She has since been spotted wearing his hoodie and has posted other tributes to Mac.

The late rapper whose birth name was Malcolm was honored with the lyrics, “Wish I could say, 'Thank you' to Malcolm / 'Cause he was an angel." This, however, was not the line in which Ariana choked up.
She got rather emotional during the part of the song mentioning her parents tumultuous relationship. The lyrics began with “One day I’ll walk down the aisle. Holding hands with my mama” and continue with “I’ll be thanking my dad. ‘Cause she grew from the drama.” As soon as the singer said the word dad she was visibly upset and choked back tears through the rest of her performance.
