Everything got so complicated! In what may be the saddest summer for celebrity relationships, Avril Lavigne announced she and Chad Kroeger are headed for divorce after her ex celebrated his marriage.
The singer took to Instagram to announce her split from the Nickelback frontman on September 2 in a sad post showing them looking like a happy couple.
“It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today,” she wrote. “Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.”

Earlier this year, Avril was diagnosed with Lyme’s disease and called it “the worst time of my life.”
