It’s impossible to imagine Gossip Girl without Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen and Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf ruling the Upper East Side. But the latest bombshell regarding the phenomenon is more explosive than any rumor Gossip Girl (AKA: Dan Humphrey!) has delivered: Blake and Leighton weren’t the network’s first choices for the roles!
“I think the network initially pitched us Rumer Willis for Serena,” CW casting director David Rapaport told Buzzfeed.
He added that while Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' daughter has “grown into quite an amazing actress and person,” the decision to pass on Rumer “was based on protecting the investment of a television show where creatively, these lesser-known girls really captured the essence of the show and carried it for six years."
