Bode Miller’s family is grappling with joy and heartbreak. As the Olympic skier and his wife Morgan mourn the death of their 19-month-old daughter Emeline, they are also preparing for the arrival of their third child together (Bode’s fifth), who is due in October.
On Monday, Bode announced via Instagram that his daughter Emmy had died. “We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this,” Bode wrote alongside a series of photos of his little girl.
“Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time,” he finished.
According to reports, the family attended a pool party on Sunday, and the toddler somehow ended up in the pool. First responders were called to the scene and performed CPR on the 19-month-old. She was taken to the hospital and could not be revived.
