Following her transition, Caitlyn Jenner had reportedly wanted to undergo a number of follow-up procedures, including getting fat transferred to her butt. But one surgery seemed to be a priority for her—feminizing her voice with vocal cord surgery. However, in a shocking twist, Caitlyn is opting to stay away from the knife (for now)!
The 65-year-old reality star had worked with voice coach Dr. Lillian Glass following her transition, as first reported by RadarOnline. In addition to working on structured drills and exercises to feminize her voice, she also honed in on her speech patterns and even body language, in sessions that were filmed for I Am Cait.
And while the sessions have not yet aired, they must have gone well enough for Caitlyn to decide against resorting to surgery. A source tells Radar, "Caitlyn asked Lillian what she thought of the surgery and Dr. Glass told her that she does not recommend it at all.”

Dr. Glass also provided Caitlyn with a number of ways the surgery could fail. “Dr. Glass told her that the success rate is extremely limited with the surgery, and that she could ruin perfectly good vocal cords,” the insider says, adding, “She told Caitlyn that surgery could result in vocal paralysis and she could end up with a breathy voice that will not even be loud enough to be heard!” That would certainly be enough of a reason for us to steer clear, too.
And Dr. Glass is not the only one who was not too enthused about the idea. On a previous episode of her series, Caitlyn spoke to Kim about the surgical procedure, and Kim asked Cait, “What if they made a mistake and you came out with no voice?”
Plus, Caitlyn has already spent an estimated $4 million on her transformation, getting everything from a facelift to sculpt the neck to a brow lift. So maybe it is the perfect time for a break!
So instead, Cait will likely continue to work with Dr. Glass, who “recommended that she would need about three months of vocal training twice a week,” to “really start to sound like a woman,” says the source.
