Unlikely Trio! Cher And The Kardashians Unite For The Premiere Of ‘The Promise’

An unexpected guest joined the Kardashian krew on the red carpet last night. While Kourtney and Kim are usually spotted with their famous baby daddies in tow, the sisters took time off from their men to join up with perhaps the one Armenian-American gal more famous than they are — Cher! The unlikely trio joined forces at the premiere of the film The Promise, which tells the tale of a love triangle set during the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1917. Both Cher and the Kardashian women have been vocal about their support of the film and the need to spread the message of what happened to the Armenian people over 100 years ago.

Kim and her sisters first used their high-profile images to shed light on the Armenian genocide — when an estimated 1.5 million Armenians were killed by the Ottoman Turks in the early 1900s — when they visited the country in April 2015. While there, they traveled to the Armenian Genocide Memorial. Their father, Robert, was of Armenian descent.

Cher has family ties to Armenia as well — her father, John Paul Sarkisian, was of Armenian descent. Of the film, the singer tweeted, “This film broke my heart, & NOT JUST 4 ARMENIANS, BUT 4 ALL PPL WHO’VE SUFFERED & LOST LOVED ONES.”

Kim has also shown her support for the film via Twitter, writing after the premiere, “So proud of the movie #ThePromise Everyone please go see it and finally hear the story of the Armenian people.”

“We’re so honored to be here. This message and this story is so important to tell. We just want to really keep the premise alive and keep the whole story alive,” Kim said at the event, Us Weekly reported.
