It’s been a rough summer for the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards. It has been learned that she was forced into a 72-hour involuntary hospital hold for doctors and staff to access her mental wellbeing.

RadarOnline.com broke the story that Kim was hospitalized last week under what is called a 5150 hold, which means: “Someone who is in serious need of mental health treatment can be transported to a designated inpatient facility for evaluation and treatment for up to 72-hours against their will.”

Radar also learned that after the hold was lifted, Kim is now staying voluntarily at the facility in Southern California.

Kim’s attorney confirmed the status to Radar saying her family was pushing for this to happen: “They were at the end of their rope trying to get her help and decided to force her to get it.”

Her attorney continued, “Kim was released after three days following the 5150, then voluntarily checked into a medical facility for further treatment.”

The 50-year-old realized she truly needed help after she was arrested for shoplifting from a Target on August 2nd.
