Dani Vitale, Demi Lovato’s backup dancer and close friend has finally addressed the circumstances surrounding the pop star's overdose. The "Sorry, Not Sorry" singer was last spotted doing shots at a bar while celebrating Dani’s birthday, leading many angry fans to blame her for the incident. Keep reading to see what she had to say.
Dani posted her statement on Instagram Sunday night. She wrote, "I care about Demi just like all of you do. I have not said anything about this situation until now because her recovery has been of the most importance. I was not with Demi when the incident happened, but I am with her now, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you."
“I was not with Demi when the incident happened, but I am with her name, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you,“ she continued.
The statement ended, “There is no need for any negativity towards the ones who care about Demi at this time. There is too much of it in this world as it is. I know you’re all feeling lost without her at this moment in time. Remember that you have always been a community of Lovatics who LOVE. Please remember that when you take out your phones and start typing. Remember that we all love her more than we can ever put into words. Please continue to send her love during her recovery."

Her words come nearly a week after Demi was hospitalized. Dani has received death threats as a result of the incident, which is presumably why she has since turned off the ability for people to comment under her post. “When I see you around Demi again. YOU ARE DONE,” one irate fan previously wrote.
And, it wasn’t just fans who blamed Demi’s friends for the overdose. Her guitarist, Mike Manning, also pointed fingers on social media. He wrote, “Anybody who was with Demi last night and actually calls themselves a friend should be incredibly disgusted with themselves. SICK!!!”
Demi is currently in stable condition but remains hospitalized.
