It’s official! After teasing fans for a week about the return of Making The Band, Diddy announced on July 15 that the show is coming back. The rapper is maintaining his spot as a mentor for the contestants.
“Today is decision day. I want to thank Wale and Seth Rogen for putting this on my radar,” Diddy, 44, said in a video posted to his Instagram. “Sometimes you’re living in your own bubble and you don’t even realize the importance of something you’ve created.”
He continued, “And with Making The Band and MTV, we created something special. We empowered young talent from all over the world, no matter what hood they were from or background they were from. Everybody had a chance if they can sing or if they can rap. They could dance and show off their talent.”
“I loved it. It was one of the happiest times in my life,” Diddy admitted.

The MTV mentor declared, “I know that I’m gonna build the biggest band in the world! So, it’s official. The decision’s made. Making The Band 2020 is back!”
A unique difference Diddy revealed is that the new show is searching for contestants from all over the world. He told his fans, “It’s not just about America and America’s music. It’s about everybody’s voice so I’m doing a global talent search!”
The new show is also embracing the power of social media. “If you feel like you have that talent and you want to do your audition live in front of the world and to me, upload your auditions to #MTBCasting,” Diddy announced. MTV plans to cast the contestants based on videos across social media platforms.
