While the new Cats musical film features some of the world's biggest stars, including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson and Rebel Wilson, many fans weren't very impressed with the trailer! Some social media users went as far as to call the preview a "nightmare."
Many fans of the original musical assumed that the new version would be animated, so a lot of people were not happy to learn that it would be a live action film when the first trailer debuted on Thursday, July 18.
"The #Cats trailer goes deep into the Uncanny Valley and discovers there is no bottom. Pure, straight-up nightmare fuel," said one user.
"The Cats trailer scared me. It's what would happen if an elderly hoarder with a Hummel figurine fetish dropped acid, ran into the street naked and was happy for the very first time, right before getting hit by a bus," said another Twitter user.
"I feel like #CatsTrailer was my fever dream when I was a kid. It reminds me of the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland 1999 live action movie which gave the poor 10 year old me a nightmare," one disappointed fan wrote.
"To whom does one report an abomination? A priest?" said another.
In addition to Taylor, 29, Jennifer, 37, and Rebel, 39, James Corden, Ian McKellen, Idris Elba, Judi Dench and Jason Derulo are also apart of the cast.
