George Clooney is going out of his way to keep his marriage alive! With just a year and a half under his belt with Amal, the actor is pulling out the big guns despite reports of drifting apart.
A source told OK! Magazine that Amal, 37, has been trying to distance herself from the 54-year-old to ensure she is taken seriously as a civil rights attorney.
“Deep down, she’s begun to wonder if being a celebrity is affecting her career,” the insider explained. “She’s worked her butt off, and she can’t stand people thinking of her as just ‘George Clooney’s wife.’ So she’s started to distance herself from him, and it’s causing tension.”

However, Clooney denied reports of trouble to UK magazine Hello!, though he did allude to rough patches in their relationship.

“I’m a great believer in the idea that luck comes and luck goes away in life—because nobody bounces from mountaintop to mountaintop, we all go through valleys, too,” he said. “So I have learned over the years to appreciate the times that are good and to pay attention to them and celebrate them.”

Insiders told OK! George and Amal are growing apart not just professionally but because of actual distance, too. George is based in Los Angeles while Amal stays in London for work.
“They thought they could live together in London and Los Angeles, but now she’s hell-bent on living in England, and he doesn’t want to leave the States,” the source said. “They’ve been drifting further and further apart, and they’re finding it impossible to keep up what’s become essentially a long-distance relationship.”
