Hilaria Baldwin may have proudly shown off her post-baby body just one day after giving birth to her son Romeo, but she wasn’t always so quick to embrace her changing body weight.
In an Instagram post, Hilaria opened up about her struggle with body image in the past, including the fact that she grew up with an eating disorder, which she discusses in her book The Living Clearly Method.
“In my book, The Living Clearly Method, I opened up about growing up with an eating disorder. I turned to yoga, health and wellness to heal my body and my mind,” Hilaria explained. “I think back to my old self and how much I would have struggled with gaining weight during pregnancy and being patient with healthfully losing it. I’m so happy I can be a strong and happy mommy now, completely accepting of my body.”
She wrote the message alongside a picture of herself in a bikini by the pool, cradling her and Alec Baldwin’s newborn baby boy.

Hilaria encouraged her followers to be proud of their bodies, too, and share unretouched photos of themselves, along with the hashtag #AerieREAL. For every post, Hilaria announced that the clothing line Aerie would donate $1 to The National Eating Disorders Association.
Hilaria has been an outspoken advocate for healthy body image. The author regularly posted photos of her changing body throughout her pregnancy, and often posts videos of her workout routine. She shared a photo taken of her postpartum body one day after welcoming Romeo, telling followers she wanted to “normalize the postpartum figure.”
