Is Kelly Clarkson Replacing Megyn Kelly On ‘Today’?

NBC is hoping to turn a PR disaster into a ratings triumph. After firing Megyn Kelly from the 9am hour of the Today show following her blackface comments last week, the network is thinking of having an unexpected host fill her shoes: Kelly Clarkson!
An insider tells OK! exclusively that Kelly is a natural choice to replace Megyn on Today. “Kelly has cohosted Today many times and the hosts and staff adore her,” the source said.
Plus, NBC was already planning on making Kelly their next hit talk show host. The singer has reportedly done test shoots for an upcoming daytime series, The Kelly Clarkson Show.
While Kelly’s show was initially scheduled to air in the afternoon before The Ellen DeGeneres Show, NBC executives are thinking it might be an ideal fit for the 9am hour! “Execs are thinking it might be the perfect time to give Megyn's Today slot to Kelly,” the source claimed.

There’s just one problem with NBC’s plan: location. “Today films in NYC and Kelly’s new show was planned to be produced out of L.A,” the source dished. “Kelly could move to NYC, but they’d need to move The Voice there, too.”
Regardless of where it films — or when it airs — NBC execs agree on one thing, and it’s that Kelly will be a less volatile choice for daytime TV than Megyn seemed to be for the network. “She already has a huge fan base and is extremely well-liked and relatable,” the insider shared.
