Jay-Z Addresses THAT Epic Elevator Fight With Solange On His New Album

Jay-Z isn’t holding anything back on his new album 4:44. In addition to seemingly admitting he cheated on Beyoncé and revealing that his mom Gloria Carter is a lesbian, Jay-Z also addresses that time Solange Knowles almost beat him up in an elevator. In 2014, Bey’s sis attended the Met Gala with the famous couple, and a security camera caught a seriously intense exchange between the trio in an elevator. In the song “Kill Jay-Z,” the rapper reveals what really happened that night.
On the track, Jay-Z raps, “You egged Solange on/Knowin’ all along, all you had to say you was wrong.” At the time, it was rumored that Jay-Z had cheated on Bey and Solange was defending her famous sister.
The line implies Jay-Z really did cheat on Bey — which he admits in the album’s title track “4:44” — but wouldn’t own up to it in the elevator, infuriating Solange and causing her to go off on him.
In the next verse, Jay-Z compares himself to Eric Benét, rapping, “You almost went Eric Benét/Let the baddest girl in the world get away/I don't even know what else to say/N***a, never go Eric Benét.”

Eric famously split from actress Halle Berry in 2013 amid rumors of fidelity, and the track implies Jay-Z almost lost “the baddest girl in the world,” Queen Bey, by doing the same thing.
Eric responded to the shout out, tweeting, “Hey yo #Jayz! Just so ya know, I got the baddest girl in the world as my wife….like right now!”
