Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard Head To Crime-Ridden City With Infant Son For Church Mission Trip
March 20 2018, Updated 4:56 p.m. ET
Jill Duggar, Derick Dillard, and their eight-month-old son, Samuel, have embarked on yet another missionary trip, but this time the family is in Guadalajara, Mexico – a city currently engulfed in a gang war. The Dillards -- who fled El Salvador, where they were doing missionary work after the kidnapping and murder of their close friend in May 2017 -- were photographed at the Arkansas Regional Airport on Sunday as they prepared to board their flight to the Mexican city.
“Pray with us for our group heading to Guadalajara today,” the family’s church, Cross Church, captioned an Instagram photo of the full missionary group. Not present though was Jill and Derick’s 2-year-old son, Israel.
The timing of the missionary trip comes at a dangerous period for the city as State Prosecutor Raul Sanchez Jimenez claimed that Guadalajara is currently going through a rearrangement of two organized crime groups who are fighting over territory. Informaddor.Mx reported that 23 people were assassinated from Saturday, February 3 to Monday, February 5, 2018, due to the gang violence.

Jill, Derick, and Samuel will remain in the city for a week as they fill it “with street evangelism and build relationships to share the gospel alongside Vida Church,” according to a description for the trip.
As OK! readers’ know, the family’s trip to Guadalajara marks their first international missions trip since the murder of their friend in El Salvador.
German Daniel Serrano Orellana, who, according to the Dillards, was kidnapped, killed, and later discovered by his family in a nearby river, worked alongside the religious couple during their time in the Central American country. The family left El Salvador just days after German’s death. Shortly after their return to the States, Jill and Derick announced that they were pursuing other services in the church besides missionary work.
