John Cena and his girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh made their red carpet debut for the movie Playing With Fire on October 26! The WWE wrestler-turned-actor gushed about his love interest, but clarified that his relationship philosophy isn’t “gender-specific.”
John, 42, and Shay, 29, cuddled up on the red carpet in NYC and couldn’t stop laughing.
“It's a wonderful day for a movie premiere and I got a beautiful date," the WWE wrestler told ET on the red carpet.
Shay, who’s an engineer, met John while filming Playing With Fire. “What's truly special about this move is that, no matter what projects I'm involved in in the future, this one will always have a special meaning because I got to film a special project and meet someone special," he gushed about his experience meeting his girlfriend.

Prior to their red carpet debut, John and his costar Keegan-Michael Key sat down with ET. The WWE wrestler was asked if he had game and he said, “No. If I have a connection with someone, I believe we're defined by our actions, and how you treat them is a reflection on how you will treat them in the future.”
He continued, “I think when anyone has a connection with someone, and someone says like, 'Hey, there's something here, and by the way, I appreciate who you are, I appreciate who you want to be, I appreciate how you live your life,' I don't think that's gender-specific. I think that's something we all want to hear.”
John and Nikki Bella started dating in 2012 and split in 2018 after a failed engagement. Nikki, 33, admitted on Total Bellas in March that seeing her ex-fiancé date other women was “going to kill.”
Nikki later started dating her boyfriend Artem Chigvintsev and recently bragged about their sex life. She gushed on The Bellas podcast, “Dancers have, like, this feminine energy and then when it gets to the bedroom, that’s when the man comes out. And you’re like, ‘Whoa.' And how he works my body, he dances on it.”
